Rebuilding a Vortech Supercharger can be a tedious process without the right tools. You can also do serious damage to the new parts if you do this wrong. These tools were developed in 2022 and a single 3D printed set has lasted for dozens and dozens of superchargers. 3D prints can be extremely durable and strong when used in compression, especially when the print is 100% solid.Â
The high-speed seal tool is designed for use with OEM seals AND aftermarket seals sold by Superchargerrebuilds. This tool is a PERFECT snap fit into the seal and will allow for a perfect install without putting any pressure on the fragile ceramic seal. The tool is also narrow enough to allow the mechanical seal to be fully pressed below the surface just like original. Please note: You must select the correct steel tool for whichever high-speed seal you intend to use. The SR version will not work on Vortech and the Vortech will not work on the SR. The differences are small but they are critical for ensuring the seal install correctly.Â
Both high speed and low speed bearing tools are designed to cup and press the inner bearing race only. This is a critical aspect for the high speed bearings which are basically useless if pressed from the outer race.Â
Please note: These tools must be used on a shop press or arbor press. They are not designed to be hammered on or used by dim witted mechanics. Ensure tools are squarely setup on the desired part and squarely in the press while using. It is also critical to have the supercharger case HOT when installing the high-speed seal so the bore expands and eases install. Same goes for installing the gears in after pressing, the case must be HOT so they slip right in.
